Level 34. Engage the Boomers.

I would imagine that some of you are maybe thinking that this is all part of an elaborate in joke played by Hollywood.

If so it goes way back. In 1977,   (The same year that Star Wars came out) a Movie called "Oh God" was big hit.  It was a hit because it’s absolutely brilliant, filled with wisdom. I’ve never heard anything that sounds more like God speaking directly to me in my life.  Watch it for yourself and see. It also holds up extremely well, in spite of it's age.

Briefly, this  guy named “Jerry”-

(Remember that Jerry is short for Harald, as in Herald, as in Angel, also the main character in Stranger than Fiction, and also Every Aprils real life Producer, and also the name of the character I get to play.)

-gets a written Invitation from God, telling him that he has an appointment tomorrow with the Almighty.

Jerry trashcans the paper, thinking it's a practical joke. It shows up on his pillow that night. He rips it in half, trashes it again. The next day, it shows up whole, inside a piece of produce he's trimming. He leaves work to make the meeting. Here's what happens next.

Just in case that was too subtle, that's a movie about God giving a guy named Jerry the message that he wants us to get our act together, and he specifically references 27 as our number.

Here's the thing, if we all watched that movie, and actually really lived by it's message, everything would be great. God's wishes are all exactly what they should be. Take care of each other, quit arguing, enjoy life. Elegantly simple common sense.

Personally I feel like they should make this movie the 28th chapter of the New Testament. (Yes there's 27 chapters of the NT) But what would it be called? The Book of...wait, what's the writers name?

Avery Corman.

Wait why does Avery sound so familiar? Oh yeah...

And as you remember, Avery means "Magical Angel Counsel". Please add up 8+3+7+9.

(Also, it's rather amusing to me that I was once a waiter at Mr Avery's birthday party...)

Please get your family and friends together and rent that movie. It’s really good. It's also one of the most powerfully intelligent pieces of art, ever made.

Oh, and in case that wasn;t far enough back for you

  1. How about Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty? Basically the same message! :)
